About Counselling

What is it?

Counselling offers a space to express yourself and feel heard, build trust and find connection. Finding a space outside of our everyday, a trusted but objective ear and voice can get some of the noise out of our heads. It helps us process and organise experiences and memories into the right places. It can give us room to breathe, unlock things we thought we’d lost, and help us find a way forward.

All kinds of things may have brought you here. Patterns rooted in the past that hold you back in the present, difficult relationships, grief, anxiety. Things that take you away from the life you wish you were living. Maybe you’ve just wandered a little way off the path. Or you could be feeling utterly overwhelmed, as though you’ve lost all sense of direction.

In these moments, it can feel like hope is lost. But here’s the thing: hope grows in the dark. Quietly putting down roots, sending up tentative shoots, seeking the light.

Working with me

If my haphazard attempts at growing vegetables have taught me anything, it is that life finds a way. (Or was that Jurassic Park..?) But people, kinda like vegetables, come in many different forms, and the conditions one needs to thrive might not suit another.

It will be reassuring, I hope, to know that I am much better at working out the conditions needed for people to thrive than I am for vegetables. That’s where the training comes in. I am an Integrative Psychotherapist. What that means is that I am experienced in drawing on a wide range of evidence based approaches, so that together we can create a confidential space that offers you what you need to heal, and flourish. We will explore together, led by you - to work out what matters most to you.

I work with a range of human beings experiencing a wide array of human struggles and challenges. My areas of focus include neurodivergence (particularly Autism and ADHD), self esteem, identity, anxiety, relationship and communication issues - but this is by no means an exhaustive list.

You are stronger than you think - though that strength may not look the way you thought it would. There is grit and courage in allowing yourself a time and space to work through your challenges, and being here means you have already taken a huge step forward. It might not be easy, but you will never be doing it alone.
